Okay, before I get started, I’m going to have to ask you to do something. I need you to trust me. I know it’s hard- you don’t even know my name or really anything about me, but in order for this to work, there needs to be absolute trust between us.
Got it? Good. Now onto the good stuff.
I’ve seen a lot of people make some amazing things in this fandom. The beautiful art, fics, and cosplays that people have come up with are just awe inspiring. We have countless AUs, fanventures, RP sites- there’s even a Homestuck anime episode coming out.
But no one seems to be talking about a Homestuck movie.
I’m not saying I’m a professional filmmaker. I’m barely even a film student. I have zero professional experience, and I’ve never made a video longer than four minutes. But there are these ideas constantly buzzing around in my head, and when I write them down, I can see them. Like, in my mind. I can see these bits and pieces of my ideas coming together and becoming something huge.
I know it sounds weird, but I’m sure there are plenty of artists who will agree with me. To make art, all you have to do is put the pictures in your head onto a visible surface. That’s what I’m trying to do here. I can’t do it alone, though.
I’m not saying a movie would be the first result of this project. Actually, I can’t really see how one would even be able to put Homestuck into a movie series. I was thinking more along the lines of a TV series. Except, like, on YouTube, not actual television.
It would be a lot easier than putting the comic into movies. We’d be able to include so many more details without drawing it out to the point that it becomes boring. That’s not to say that movies are completely out of the deal, though. Rather, the movies would encompass aspects of the comic that weren’t really expounded upon. Maybe there could be a movie about the Alternian ancestors, or Complacency of the Learned. Hell, maybe we’ll even get Stiller and McConaughey lookalikes and make the SBaHJ movies. Idk.
Now that I’ve finished completely blowing your mind, I’m going to have to ask you to do one more thing (okay, actually two more things). I need you to SPREAD THE WORD ABOUT THIS. Promo the shit outta this blog and this project. Remember, you have plenty of time- serious work (casting, music production, writing) will not even begin until spring of 2013 at the earliest. I just need to know that I have enough people behind this project to really make it work. Once it gets on its feet, it will be a SERIOUS commitment.
The other thing I need you to do is SWEAR TO SECRECY. Okay, I know this kinda totally contradicts what I just asked you to do, but gimme a minute to explain. I want this project to stay within the fandom. I don’t want outsiders spoiling it. I think it’s reasonable that I want people who don’t like the comic to stay out of our special projects, and I know I’m not the only one. So promise me- don’t let any non-Homestucks know about this.
